Post-COVID-19 sino-orbital mucormycosis: a case report

چکیده

Mucormycosis is an invasive fungal infection caused by fungi of the order Mucorales. Mucorales are ubiquitous in environment association with decaying organic matter. Here we report case a 68-year old female who presented history ptosis left eye decreased vision, facial pain and loss sensation cheek. She had COVID-19 infection. Magnetic resonances imaging brain revealed intense enhancement optic nerve. Bilateral spenoidal, ethmoidal maxillary sinus showed mucosal thickening. Histopathological microbiological examination specimen confirmed mucormycosis. Despite treatment, patient died at 7th day hospitalization.
